Travels in search of a photograph
Despite most armchair explorers thinking that the life of a travel photographer is one of an endless round of jet-setting in business class quaffing ice-cold G&Ts, nothing could be further from the truth. At least not the way Nick Smith has been doing it for the past couple of decades.
Based on his monthly column in Outdoor Photography magazine, Travels is a collection of snapshots of the trials and tribulations of the field photographer. As we discover, it’s not all beer and skittles shooting in the far-flung corners of the world. But it can sometimes be quite funny: usually when least expected.
Ranging from the sharply-focussed observations about life on the road to practical advice for the novice snapper, Travels is a refreshing – if at times uncomfortable – look at what it’s like to be a wandering photographer tilting his lens at life’s wide-angle windmills.
